Hello, I want to make my own dovetail marking knife and I'm looking to use a spearpoint blade similar to the ones supplied by czeck edge and the following examples.

Padauk Dovetail Marking Knife - by Brian Shourd @ LumberJocks.com ~ woodworking community

A Knife for Marking Dovetails by Derek Cohen

Ebony Marking Knife - by CartersWhittling @ LumberJocks.com ~ woodworking community

Czeck Edge Marking Knife - by Jon3 @ LumberJocks.com ~ woodworking community

Normally I would try to make my own following the tutorial in the 2nd link but I dont have access to the necessary tools. If someone has a dovetail blade or is willing to make one similar to the examples I would be happy to trade a few blanks or kits for their efforts.

Thanks in advance.

Why not contact Czeck Edge and ask if they will just sell you the blade. I made a couple of the Czeck marking knives and they were great to deal with.

I thought about it but I'm trying to save the $ for a different tool  so I'm looking to try a trade before buying the blade .

Another option is to buy the set of 3 marking knives Lee Valley just introduced and pull the handles off and replace them with your own. For a few more days they have a free shipping offer making it even more enticing.

Just looked and the free shipping is for orders of $40 or more, so you will need to get more stuff. Shucks eh?
