Heads up Marines.........

My neighbors son is graduating in two weeks and will soon be a Marine corps officer.

I want to make him a pen but don't know what color blank to use.

I'm thinking of an orange blank with his name in either blue or gold.

Any thoughts or ideas where this color of a blank is available?

Here is where I'm getting the colors from....

Gold Ti Kit (Statesman), Dark blue blank (no swirlies), red laminate strips at nib, centerbands and finial.

Simple, elegant, no nonsense...... just like a USMC Officer.

To add to what Joe suggested, you can probably find their Pantone Matching System logo colors on their website or obtain them thru their public info office.

Orange is not part of the USMC color scheme. Red, Navy Blue, and Gold (kit for the gold part maybe).

I'd send along a couple of refills as well, newbie officers do alot of note taking.

Blue, red, and gold are the colors of the Corps. Never seen orange but if the color is off in a picture the gold might appear that way. That's a nice thought.....even if it is for an officer, he is still a Marine. The red and gold colors are the more popular of the colors.

I just hope he gets some training now before they throw him out in the middle of something that all the books and stories can't teach him in a million years.

Thanks for the ideas and so this doesn't stray into an orange vs red issue, I looked at the logo above and it looked more like a burnt orange than red, and that's why I said orange. My poor ole eyes stand corrected!:)

I have some really beautiful navy blue that I have been using with my blue and siver pens lately. I may try to come up with a segmented design using red and blue and use a Jr Statesman kit that has the gold embellishments on the ends and centerband.

Have seen a really sharp set done and pics posted here before using USMC Emblems... think they were printed on labels, applied to the tubes and clear cast over. Blind Squirrel perhaps did them???
