This is one I finished last night for a friend. It is going to be a Christmas gift for his brother. The finish is sand to 600, sanding sealer, resand then a coat of President's Choice.

The blank is natural with a bit of CA to fill in the gaps you get with burls.

Thanks for the comments! [:)]

Very nice job Mike, You know I've heard and seen individuals use different things like your accent stripe as a signiture in all of their pens. You may want to think about using that or another accent stripe in all of your pens. Just an idea.

About the lamination. The first pen I made with a diagonal stripe, I used veneer. It was too thin, so I laminated 3 plys of veneer, two dark with a light in the middle. Worked out fine.

When I turn slimlines and other small diameter pens, I usually cut the blank down to 5/8" in the bandsaw. This leaves me with a couple thin pieces of wood that I can use later for stripes. I just put these thin pieces in a box for later use.
