Completely off topic about pens, but I'm curious as to how to make something.

I have wanted to make hair barrettes but I'm confused as to how to make the arc for the back so the barrette clip will attach. The clips come in various lengths but appear to have the same curve.

Anyone have thoughts on how to do this?

Thanks

It's been a while since I made any but when I did I made the wood thin and it curved with the barrett easily.Very seldom did I need to boil a piece to get it to curve.

I don't believe that they are turned. You make them out of curved wood and then saw and finish. Attach the metal finding with epoxy or tiny rivets or nails.
