hello,

i made this tool tonight at work running the metal lathe.
had some down time..

as some know i make duck an goose call's,an with anything turned it's all about time factor.

here's some pic's..

balanced handle.

set screw's holding 3/8 carbide shank in place.

added relief,an rounded the tip of carbide a little for a smoother finish.

working on 3/8 hss-high speed steel.
to shape my own tooling to the finish i need on my call's.

will be a great addition when working acrylic.

hope you liked the idea.

it's a thread cutter, useing it to turn from left to right an right to left.
rounded the sharpe tip so you get a smoother finish.an grounded a relief on it.used it tonight an it work's great.

yes the cutter hole is round so you can slip tool's in an out.an adjust the length of tool with in the hole an set the set screw's so the cutter does'nt move.
basic idea as a hss duplicator bit.

they make the braized carbide's in a very small size.;)
an they are really good carbide grade.which will run you anywere from acouple buck's to 12.00 dollar's a piece depending on the grade.
i went for the 3.50 deal.
i just believe the carbide will hold up longer, then hss dew to the fact that hss just wear's out if your turning some hard dense wood's.
let me clarify the just wear's out/it just does'nt hold a sharpe edge for to long.or i'll just skip the hss an make the tool's i need out of 3/8 carbide stock that we have at work...yeah that sound's better.lol.

WOW,WHAT DO YA KNOW...COOL

I NEVER EVEN HEARD OF A OLAND TOOL.
I JUST THOUGHT IT UP IN MY HEAD WHILE I WAS AT WORK.
I GOTTA KEEP THINKING THING'S UP,ONE DAY I'LL HIT IT BIG ON SOMETHING..
AN LEAVE MY MARK FOR OTHER'S TO USE.

THAT'S A VERY COOL LINK,THANK-YOU.

I'M ALWAY'S TRYING TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX,WERE THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY.
