None of this relates to pens specifically but I decided to spend some time improving a couple of my benches.

I've had a bench from a middle school shop for a couple years but it was way too low (sat on a metal cabinet) and didn't have the work holding capability that I needed. I smoothed up the top, built a whole new base, and put on a new vise (walnut vise jaw and turned walnut handle. Drilled a line of dog holes as we'll. Then added a lower shelf and some drawers.

Today I made a new outfeed assembly table loosely on the paulk style

Dan very nicely done. If you have the room there is nothing more satisfying than to have an outfeed table like that and it can also double as an assembly table. I am jealous.

Wow, nice but way is the shop so clean? do you use it?

I should have taken a picture yesterday in the midst of making the outfeed. Tools and dust everywhere. Cutting out those holes for the sides with a router makes a huge mess.

That said, I do like to keep my main benchtops clean and floor generally swept.

Dan the shop looks great... but it's entirely too clean and neat.. Now tell the truth you don't really do any work in there right?
any more of these comments and I'm going to start posting pictures of the dirt and junk piles. ;-)

Go on Dan, ruin that 'clean cut image' you have been putting out there. Show us the dirt and piles of junk.
I am almost willing to bet that you can't find any in your shop. Maybe someone elses shop that you might visit.
But not in yours.

(The above was all said with a big grin on my face.):biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Some of the regular dust that hangs out

Tools piled up in the midst of a project today (since all out away though. ;/)

Hi Dan:

I love seeing how your shop evolves over the months! Tools added, machines added, etc...

It is a special place that allows you to be productive in a different manner, and to regroup for your typical tasks every week.

I enjoy the pics. Oh, NICE bench top! Love the spaces under the top.

Dan
I'm sorry for teasing you about your shop being to clean, apparently it' has caused you to create dust spots and messy tool piles(probably staged for the picture). And I fear that you may end up needing counseling, we may even have to make an intervention if you continue to not sweep between cuts.

Please disregard all post the refer to you being tidy, if this messy stage persist please notify us so we can help you actually make some real saw dust:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:.

If you really need to clean a shop you can always come to my shop and see real chaos.:biggrin:

Seriously I wish my shop were half as clean and organize as yours, not to mentioned if I could only turn like you.

One more shop project today. Now it's time to get back to making things that don't stay living in the shop.

New table for my old dewalt radial arm saw (made in Lancaster Pennsylvania. - take that China! Lol)

Added a stop block and extension wing.
