I've been doing a lot of casing pens lately for some reason, most of them involving segmenting the casings with other materials, or at least using the bases from two or 3 casings per pen. The best way I found to cut them off was with a metal lathe cutter I got a while back (Thanks Mannie) but it's fairly short and I got tired of holding it. I had a offcut from some black walnut I was milling for some flatwork the other day that caught my eye. It just seemed to say "Toolhandle, Toolhandle". It always makes me a little suspicious when I catch pieces of wood talking to me, but I decided to give it a try anyway, and this is what I ended up with.

What do you call that tool? I have one just like it and it is my all time
favorite cutter, hands down. (But mine is just flat on the top)
I can get a TruStone blank (even the Blue Lapis) down to size in two long
passes. I love this tool, just don't know what it's called.

Great handle, too
