We have decided to change over to Mac unit by unit. The first will be a laptop for me. My question to you who are using Mac is which one to buy the Pro or the Air. I've already decided not to go with Retina display but will go with the 15.4 inch.
My next question is do I but a new unit or a refurbished unit from Apple or one of the resellers?
If the first unit works out in the next few months I will be getting another laptop for Dee and replacing my desk top unit also.
Also if refurbished should I get the new OS Mountain Lion or leave Lion or Snow Leopard if thats what it comes with?
One more question, any of you that have a older Mac Laptop either Pro or air and is thinking of a new unit and want to sell it I could be interested if the unit is in good shape.

I bought a 13inch mac pro recently. I needed the web and graphic abilities as well as the CD drive The majority of people would be more than happy with the Air.

I have bought a couple refurbished MACS. They lasted and were in pristine condition when I got them. I buy direct from apple new or refurbed but I do not have a MAC store near me.

It will come with the new OS loaded no matter what you get.

We have a pro that we bought refurbished from Apple and have had no problems with it...saved a couple of hundred dollars. If they don't have what you want just keep checking availability. We waited several days before the one we wanted was available refurbished. We've purchased several refurbished apple products and have had no problems.
Do a good turn daily!

The refurbished products are great, have the same warranty so a real good bargain. I have a 13" Macbook Pro and my wife has the Macbook Air. I love the pro as it has a bigger hard drive and is a bit speedier then the Air, but for her she loves it because she takes it back and forth to work everywhere. It's all about how you are going to use it.

Have bought both new and refurb, no problems either way. I have a pro, but with a graphic design back ground it just suits me. But I agree the air would suit most anyone. Both are nice machines! The Air will be faster and better battery life. The Pro has more processing power, memory, and disk drives which I believe the air doesn't have. Personal preference i guess! Lion, snow leopard, whatever, I am running Lion but it isnt much different in my experience but I have only been running Lion for maybe 2 months, Snow Leopard Before that.

I had referbs that had no problems, and referbs that had chronic problems. I would recommend getting apple care either way, I've always used it for something (I just got a new power adapter last week)

I don't think the air comes in a 15 inch version. If you must have a 15 inch screen then go with the pro. I do love my 15 inch pro, I had the pro and a 13 inch macbook last year (forced to lease the 13 inch computer as part of my grad school program), and I was OK with the 13 inch screen, but really like the bigger screen. I also do a lot of photo and video work which eats up a lot of the screen.
