My 10 year old made this pencil. He wanted a glow-in-the-dark one. The only bit I did was mix the resin.

Oh, yeah. It's not that it's a crappy photo - the pen glows in the dark. Here it is in the light:

OKay, OKay, I'm rumbled. You can see the phong highlight. Yes, it's the same photo. But only becase even at 1600 ISO with an 8 second exposure, I could barely see the pencil in the dark.

It DOES glow inthe dark - honest!!

Now if they would just make car keys like this I would be set, ha ha ha. Great looking turn and a unique concept.

My boy wants one now. How long does the resin last (days, weeks, months. yrs)?

Well, this one has lasted 48 hours so far!

This is not "chemiluminescent." The light isn't a one-off event produced by a chemical reaction.

I suppose, strictly speaking, it's "phosphorescent." Ie the light is emitted after exposure to and removal of incident radiated light.

I do something similar with glow-in-the-dark FIMO. It's a polymer clay. Nice work! I always trip myself up thinking about how I can't really use a pen when it's actively glowing.....
