How do they rate the HP on these?

I mean, it can't be more powerful than my 1.5 HP dust collector right?

I'm not sure, Dario, but it seems like it has significantly more pull than my 3/4hp collector.

Pull and CFM displacement doesn't always equate though []. What we need is high CFM. That said, it might work for those with small shop...just make sure to buy some ear muffs too. []

I am just baffled how they can get away with this hp rating. I thought there should be some kind of "REAL" standard.

Ive have a BIG nasty noisy Craftsman for yrs and it works great but I don't use it for a dust collector !! It would drive me outta the shop and my hearing would be gone by now .. dang thing sucks up anything it gets close to :O).... []Having said all that IF I didn't have this one I would buy one a those at Lowes nice buy IMHO ... But I would have to try it first I like a shop vac to really suck[]

I'm pretty sure my Shop Vac states max hp at top speed. They don't really need high torque when just starting. Mine is 5.5 hp (12 gal.), I wouldn't reccomend anything less. I paid $79.00 at Lowe's.
