I need your thoughts…..
For 6 months of a lot of trial and error efforts, I have been working on developing a Fusion Razor handel.
The current component is going to be a High End Razor.
The first run will be made from Solid .925 Silver. There are many advantages and disadvantages in using this metal.
I'm sure I could dig deeper and look into a different material such as surgical steel or even a die cast with different finishes.
With the first run and small quantities currently being made, the cost between Steel and Silver is almost equal due to the additional cleanup labor required in using steel. For now I chose to put the value in silver rather than labor.
If you have a background or knowledge in casting and have a solution for making this with a material that will cost less, Please let me know.
The Details:
The solid one piece component will accept the mechanics needed to hold the Fusion or Pro-Glide Razor Heads.
The current thought is to turn a solid closed end razor handle – No use for a barrel.
The handle side of the component will have a threaded rod.
A simple drill and tap to the razor handle to accept the rod is all that will be needed.
A simple hole would work – Both methods are going to require a water proof epoxy to hold the head and create a good seal between the razor head and face of handle.
Any of your thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.
Specifically I would like to know your thoughts on the following:
#1 - Having just over one ounce of Solid Sterling Silver .925 – Do you think there is a market for the price point that would be needed to produce one of these razor handles.
#2 - Do you think a Turner would be interested and willing to pay the price point needed to buy a kit to turn this style razor handle.
#3 – How would you determine a selling price point for both a completed handle and as a kit?
#4 – Would you be interested in this idea as a kit?
