Hi all,
I'm a new woodturner looking for a small piece of reclaimed hardwood with some historical character — ideally something with a connection to the legal world. I'm hoping to turn a one-off pen as a gift for a barrister, so I'm trying to find timber that comes from (or is believed to come from) an old courtroom, legal chambers, courthouse furniture, or similar civic or institutional setting.
I only need a small blank — suitable for a fountain and roller ball set - and I'm happy with offcuts or leftovers as long as the piece is sound enough for turning. Oak would be perfect, but I'm open to other species if they have the right story behind them.
If anyone has anything suitable tucked away or can point me to a source that deals in timber with known provenance from the legal or public sector, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to pay and cover postage, of course.
