Looking for shoes to wear in the shop

I am in the market for a good pair of shoes to wear in the shop. Currently I have a pair of hiking shoes that got a bit ratty, so I cut the backs so my feet can slip in, but they are now on their way to shoe heaven.

Any recommendations? Would typically like a slip-on since I am in and out of the house as well when I am working.

When working on light things (like most pen work) I just wear loafers. If dealing with heavy things that might hurt my feet I wear leather shoes with a hard toe.
 
One more vote for the proper Crocs with or without holes, I use the ones with holes and to be quite honest, I don't think that I ever saw the non hole ones, either way, they are the most softest thing to wear in your feet, anyone's feet, really..!:biggrin::biggrin:

I live in them. Even accidentally have found myself mowing lawn in them.
Wish they made them in hunting boots. PS they do have high top work boots in a number of configurations including steel toes.

What is your body worth to you? My feet, used to kill me! Was nearly in tears after a few hours standing on concrete floors. Z-coils made my work life bearable.

Was at the track at a nearby park at 6:00 AM walked 1 1/3 miles. Retired, I can now do that.

I wear a pair of comfortable shoes or boots, but more importantly I have foam rubber mats on the ground in front of my work areas that really reduce fatigue and back pain.
 
I wear sneaker or slippers (my shop is indoors). However, I can see an uninvited fallen chuck or skew meeting my feet one day.
 
I do more than just turn pens in the shop and I've dropped or knocked heavy boards or bowl blanks off benches before. Glad I had my work boots on. Got a new pair just before I retired 13 years ago and they still work great.

I second the NB walking shoes--very comfy (I like the 12 4Es). One of the plants where they make some of these is about 8 miles up the road from me in Skowhegan, Maine. They are one of the last companies making shoes in the US.

PS If it's boots you like, I love my Rockys (they still make SOME of them in the US, too, FWIW).

I wear an old pair of leather sneakers that are very comfortable. I also have the matts from Harbor Freight. The matts cover the entire shop floor where I walk or stand. They really helped a lot and are not very expensive. They are also good if I drop something that wouldn't do well against the concrete floor.
 
I have the best pair of Mongrel Boots. They cost a pretty penny but soooo worth it!. They are lace up but you access them by a zipper up the side so easy to get on and off. Safety first in the workshop.
