I got a very nice used Ortur LM2 S2 Pro 10w laser off facebook about a month ago. To engrave metal, they say at least a 10w laser is needed. Mine is a diode laser. I have a little 3.5w laser but it's pretty limited. I wanted something to engrave on knife blades. Here's a test I did on stainless the other day.I've been tinkering with the idea of a laser for doing some embellishments on my pens - but I'd like it to be able to engrave metal. What I am reading is that I need a fiber laser to do that - and I watched the Exotic Blanks live demo and it seemed to confirm that thought. My problem is mention fiber plus laser in a sentence and the cost seems to rocket to thousands of dollars. Anyone having success engraving designs and text in nickel silver or similar metal with a sub $1K cost laser? Looking to do nibs, clips, and top finials on the pen.
