Looking for a solid matte gray blank

Hi,

Could someone point me to a solid color gray blank. I have a buddy that wants a pen that has the same color of an F-22 (matte gray Air Force Aircraft color). I showed him a stabilized and dyed wood, but he did not like the graininess.

Could you paint your tube the correct color and then cast in clear? You could add other graphics too. Another option is to get a clear blank and paint the hole mat grey before gluing in the tube. I've done this for someone wanting a mint green pen when I couldn't find the right blank. I did sand the hole prior to painting.

Aluminum sanded to 600 or 800.

Those are interesting ideas. I have wanted to try casting. Adding a tail number would be pretty cool. Thanks for the ideas.

I thought about using aluminum and bead blasting it. That may work, it's about the correct color. Thanks for the Al blank idea. I have some 6061 laying around.

I think it would be cool. Maybe even paint a tail number on it and clear it with a lacquer or possibly CA. Could go crazy and paint rivets on it!

How about laminating PVC pipe?
