I have no artistic design ability at all. I have seen many here who have the ability to make logos that are outstanding. I saw Jeff's new IAP logo and was inspired to want something for myself.

My tricky part is I have 2 different hobbies and want to incorporate them in the logo somehow. Scrollsawing is one hobby as well as turning. I make all kinds of clocks and I also turn all kinds of small items such as pens, bottlestoppers, keychains and birdhouses and so on.

The name of my business is J.T.'S Creative Woodworking

I have no idea what to include in the logo or how so I am reaching out to members here for abit of help. Ideas that might be included in the logo maybe a tool such as a scrollsaw, tablesaw, lathe, hand tools such as saws, planes, sawblades and others. Maybe the pen outline that many have used could be incorporated. I just don't know.

In the near future I am setting up a web site and thought it would be nice to have a logo on the top of the front page that I can call mine. Maybe even have some shirts and stationary made up so it has to be abit professional too. I am willing to pay for the service ( hopefully reasonable)

If someone would like to help and take this on I would be much appreciated. If there are further questions I would be glad to answer them. I know this is not as big a deal as designing the IAP logo but it is something I wanted to have done for awhile but did not have anyone to ask. With the great design minds here i thought this might be the place to give it a try. Anyone want to take a stab at it??? Thanks.

I will take a stab at it. I am kinda backed up with Christmas gifts will sometime early next week be okay?

That would be great. Someone suggested I make this a contest. Not sure on that one. I don't want to discourage anyone with design talent to be intimindated. I am looking for all suggestions and designs and hopefully will be able to get something that will become a well known logo in years to come as I become famous and rich and rich and famous and----------

I will try my hand at it. I have designed several logos and usually the simpler the better. You need something that people can easily see and be able to read it. I try and keep things to 1 or 2 colors for printing reasons. I found out the hard way on that one

I welcome all triers. I hope you make my job so hard to choose I will have to put a poll up here. I have been wanting this for some time now but I just don't have the skills at all and the talent here is endless. Thanks again.

I worked on this tonight just to relax a bit. If you like it I will send it to you in an email. I can also make some changes to it if you want

Morning here John,

Our Wood Guild has eleven special interest groups that meet at our magnificent shed each month independantly of the main meeting once a month.

The name of The Pen Turning group was changed to include other small turnings such as you do it is now Mandrel and Miniature Turning group. We have a separate Scrollsaw group as well., my suggestion change that again for you to Pen And Small Turning Specialist. Then Scrollsawn either in front or after that. In front to the uninitiated may mean Scrollsawn Pens. After the word Turning the ,also specialising in distinctive Scrollsawn (examples here of Clocks or Pen Work)

I admit freely to being a keen supporter of your work and wish you every success for 2011.

Kind regards Peter.

Hi Peter. I understand your suggestion but the name of my company is such and it has been for many years so I am not changing that. I just added the turning part 2 years ago. I make a whole lot other things than clocks too. So I am trying to capture the essence of what I do without over doing it. I appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks again

If you don't get one you like, there are a few inexpensive logo designing software programs out there. That is what I ended up using for another business that I have.

John, I was just looking through some online Logo programs. basically you can make the logo and then buy it if you like it. if you look under the Art's and crafts category they have a pretty nice looking clock. I was not able to figure out how to add more than one icon though. this is the link if you want to toy around in it. it is free to play.
