I cut lots of acrylic rods into blasnks on my 10 inch Delta table saw with a jig. I'm looking to buy a new blade and don't mind paying a preimum price for a good long lasting blade between sharpings but not just because its a name blade. Any thoughts????

Amana makes a non-melting saw blade made for cutting plastics. Different configuration than for wood -- but if you are cutting plastics.......

I use a 60 TPI Diablo. It cuts well and leaves a very clean finish. I have used cheap blades (Irwin) and more expensive ones(Dewalt, CMT) but for the money I haven't used anything better.

I have used Freud for years, they a new 90 tooth Diablo. I like to segment and the cuts are so smooth I no longer sand.

Roy my son sells industrial tooling and. I just talked to him about your question and he will ask their plastics person and let know what would work best. I will pm you when he calls me.

I don't think you can go wrong with any carbide blade available these days. I've used Amana blades for aluminum and they work well and seemed to last forever. As in, miles and miles of cuts. I've also used DeWalt, Freud and Forrest blades mostly for wood that worked well for quite some time.

I currently use a Freud carbide tipped blade (56 teeth, IIRC) in my 8-1/2 chop saw for cutting blanks and it seems to work great. Cuts wood and plastics and aluminum tube equally well.
