I'd call it a waste of two years of precious time, myself - but people might say that about my pen turning too!

I would only guess that they did it because they could. Maybe that is what they enjoy?

I used to live in Arkansas and messed around with remote control helis and cars. One day one of the employees came in and said he thought it was a waste of money to do that. I just turned to him and asked, "How much do you spend on hunting equipment, guns, bows and arrows, your hobby? That is what you like to waste your money on, this is what I waste mine on."

Just a hobby like our penturning is.

That was a cool video. Talk about an original idea. It takes real imagination to do a video like that.

Why? it's art. It may not be how I would express myself, and I may not have that much time to put into it or into any other expression of art, but I respect that it is another person's expression.

I cannot help but feel there is a lot of talent there of more than one kind.
