I lot of people buy from "Little Machine Shop".
I use the PSI, wont say it's the best but it works fine for me. You can get it on Amazon cheaper than at PSI. If you do purchase it from Amazon make sure it's the right one. They have one that has the picture of the 60 degree center but it's not. Get the part number for the 60 degree from PSI then go to Amazon.

I'm in the same boat as Andrew; my Little Machine Shop live center showed wear almost the first time I used it, but it seems to have only gone so far. Still works good, but the point has taken a beating from the mandrels.

I would like to buy American, do we make anything in this country anymore. If we did I would buy it. Maybe the Germans make something . I am going to go off now and try to find. SIGNE ME TIRED OF CHINEES CRAP (I know I use that word to much but I think everyone would agree, first they try to kill our pets and now with lead they are doing the same to us).

I tried looking for a live/dead center pair, with large carbide points (over 1/2") so that any of the bushings or tubes I use would fall withing the carbide portion. Best price I could get was over $400 just for the live center. [:0]

I have the Groz (also Indian)live center from Woodcraft, which though it shows a little initial wear, does not seem to be deteriorating much further. The point is in good shape, and it runs smoothly. http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=3975&productid=145077

There seems to be a pretty good jump from the cheapies that we have to the higher quality, better tolerance ones that are used in industry. USA made is going to cost you dearly. I saw some in the $700-800 range.
