Little red X? Help?

I received an email with some pictures. There are frames with a white box with a little red X in it. I've tried right clicking then, click on show picture. But, that doesn't work. Had this issue a few years ago but, don't remember how I got it fixed. Checked internet options and, in the multi-media pictures are being allowed. Any help? Advice? Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this is at home or work but a lot of companies have Proxies and Firewalls that could block images. If at home I would shut down your Anti Virus and Firewall software and try it. It is possible an update went out that is blocking images and you may need to tweak the settings.

Could be. I just had a big update yesterday. Tweaking is not for me. Thanks for the help. BTW, this is home pc. Microsoft Security Essentials.
 
I would try to disable it and try again. If it works than you can be sure it is the MSE blocking. I used to have CA and the FW blocked pics on websites. If I remeber correctly it was blocking Pics that were links (to enlarge the pic). It was an easy fix. I do not use MSE so I am not sure what you need to do to make the change. Good luck. I notice there are a lot of computer literate guys here that may be able to help.
 
Yeh, I tried to turn it off but, MSE doesn't offer an on-off button. I don't want to mess this thing up any further. Thanks again.
