 That's amazing... I'm sure I saw the Amazing Grace sequence last year... it bounced all around my friends, & that was you??
Sean Quigly couldn't be anything other than Canadian; outside, in shorts & sneakers in the snow  & thoroughly enjoying himself in his vid.
So is the light display computer (as in windows etc) or plc controlled?
Whatever it is it's amazing, you must be on pretty good terms with your neighbours

Thats awesome! There is a house just around the corner from me that does this on a much larger, but less impressive scale (if that makes any sense whatsoever!). The one here has more lights, but yours is so much better coordinated and much cleaner light set up.

Yes, totally awesome. I was especially interested in the star. I made a Holdman style star for our place this year. Here is a video of it in testing.

Sean Quigley - Little Drummer Boy (Official Music Video) - YouTube

Little drummer boy video. The kid played all the instruments himself from waht I have been told.

Gil, That is cool.

Yep that's the video my wife discovered last year and wanted me to sequence for this year.

The lights are computer controlled by a Windows PC. But there is an option to program what you want on the PC and then download it to a flash card that you plug into a controller in the yard and it will run fully automated. I've gone several days without touching the show computer. I programmed the scheduler to run the show from 6-9 on weekdays and 6-10:30 on fri, sat. You actually end up using less power because the lights are not on constantly. But most people have been switching to LED lighting so the power costs isn't as much of a factor.

Here's website to visit if you're interested in doing this:
Light-O-Rama* Computerized Shows

I recommend you start out with one of the starter packages:
Residential Series 16 Channel Starter Package
PRO Series 16 Channel Starter Package

I have 3 of the PRO boxes giving me 48 channels and then I have 5 CCR ribbons which form those 4 arches on each side of the yard and the big circle on the right. The residential boxes are a little cheaper and work just as well. The PRO boxes are made of metal and give an LCD display that shows status and allows you to set the controller ID from switches in the box and has a power switch and fuse holders. The residential controllers need their ID to be set by connecting it directly to a PC for programming.

Feel free to message me if anyone wants more details or advise getting started. Most people that do this start real early in the year. You need time to plan what channels you will have and to use the software to sequence the lights to the music.

Yeah I basically followed the directions on Holdman's website to make that star.

hey Gil, thanks for those links, very interesting. I'll be spending some time browsing over there. Not sure I'll be able to afford to do anything but it's a possibility. Thanks also for the offer to help with advice if needed.
Keep up the good work!
David
