Turn for Troops

Our annual Turn for Troops event will be November 12th. We will have the lathes up and running all day so we can turn as many pens as possible to send overseas to our service men and women. If you want to get a head start you will be able to pick up kits and blanks starting Monday October 31st, turn them at home and bring them back and get some more! This is a very worthwhile endeavor and we receive thank you letters and phone calls every year from troops deployed over the holidays. ​

I got that from them in email. Anyone in other areas get this? Anyone around here plan on participating?​

I think I will participate. I cannot get the WC, VABCH on the 12th to turn them, but I will probably do some this week at the house. What are you thinking of doing?

All I ever seemed to get last deployment was sanitizing gel, and girl scout cookies.

I talked to Bill at the store yesterday and he set me up with the kits. I have plenty of blanks @ home, so I will be doing a batch and taking them in on the 12th.

i'm doing a few slim lines in corian and a couple of deer antler that I've had drilled and sitting on the table so long they have dust building up on them...... I have a ton of slim kits that i haven't used in a while so i'm just doing them up and dropping them off this week... If any body wants some corian to play with( with the stipulation its for the troops turning event let me know and I'll get up with you guys just call me 647 8130 Jason

Well, hopefully, I can meet some of you on the 12th when I stop by. I remember a few from the meet and greet at PTownSubbie's last year, but I haven't had much luck making it this year.

I dropped off about 50 corian blanks that are 3/4 x 3/4 and some that are 1/2 x 1/2 I also dropped a hand full of slims a nd a cigar or 2 as I won't be able to be there for the turn day. Some of the 3/4 and bigger are EOS and remnants of demos I had taken out and glued with corian glue.. Some of the more interesting colors only come in 1/2 and I figured that would suffice as I think most of the kits being donated are slim lines....
