I just got home from a great tour of the Lenox factory in East Longmeadow Massachusetts. This where Lenox makes all of their band saw, reciprocating saw and hole saw blades.
It was neat to see everything from 1/4" to 3" band saw blades being made.

If you are ever going to be in the area, it is worth a visit. Check ahead for tours. A local turning club with several IAP members went on the 90+ minute tour of the 14 acre factory floor and witnessed all aspects of saw manufacturing.
We got to watch the HSS tooth stock being EB welded to the spring steel back of the bi-metal blades under a microscope.
We got to watch the carbide tips being welded onto the steel backs.
