Lathe Speed for Beal Buff system

Just purchased a Beal 3 on the Lathe Mandre Wood Buff system. What speed do you run the lathe at? It is not in the instructions and calling them doesn't work as they are closed.

Never go above 1750 which is a common electric motor speed. I hang out around 1500 with mine. Much faster and you run the risk of too much heat and burning through the finish. Start slow and work your way up as you get a feel for it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had it set on 3000+ but turned it down to 1800, I think it has a 1500 speed. Boy does that thing trow the lint untill you get it cleand off.
 
It will keep throwing lint, even after it's cleaned off.

I recommend some kind of dust collection behind it.
 
It'll stop most of the lint throwing after a while. Of course it's always going to do it to a degree, but it'll be greatly reduced.

I polish mine at 1800. Just be careful it doesnt grab the piece your polishing. Happens to us all eventually.

Oh, and don't use that wax stick on the last wheel. It's nasty and it never seems to leave the friggin wheel.
 
I'm currently nursing a sore nose from a 'turners disease' which is the urge to 'go one better.' So insted of buffing at three to five hundred like I usually do I decided to pop the meter to 1200 while buffing a bowl. Sure enough, just as I was doing the last bit of buffing on my Beall three wheeler an egde of the bowl caught, whipped it under, around, and over the wheel and straight into my nose. I'm proud to tell you that my nose saved the bowl, which only needed minor surface repairs. And I'm sure that, in a couple of days, my face will stop hurting.
