Any of the NEJE 1W or up models, or it's one of its clones (sold under many names) for around $100 will work fine for wooden pens. You can make or purchase a rotary attachment if you want to do larger or wrap-around engravings. For a single line and/or small graphic, the base machine is fine. Of course, if your wallet is fatter than mine, a K40 or something along that line would be even better as they can engrave larger projects, and at 40 Watts will engrave plastic, acrylic, etc. that the little lasers can't (reliably--there are tricks that sometimes work).
