I was Googling around and searched-on "acetone-safe plastic storage" and this site popped-up:

Search Results | U.S. Plastic Corp.

It appears to be a good resource for other questions that we may have as penturners.

I haven't had any disasters storing anything, but it appears that I have been very lucky. There also appears to be a big difference between what is safe for storing and dispensing. I guess is has something to do with exposure/contact time with the container. Anyway, I am no chemist, I hope this helps.

Have a great and safe day turning.

HDPE is pretty much good for almost any chemical you will have in your shop. I use to work for a gas tank manufacturer and that is what they make gas tanks out of and they seal them with HCL acid so they pretty much stand up to anything. Just make sure you only store gas in a gas can which receives the extra treatment.
