I use premium knife supply (premiumknifesupply.com) for all my blades, folders and fixed. Middle of the road cost wise on a one for one but great sales support. Most other suppliers get their blanks through them. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

If you are looking for a nice, easy to deploy folder, go to either Woodcraft or Rockler and look for what they call the large folding knife. It is a Sarge brand liner lock with thumb stud for opening. Not on sale they go for about $20.00 each. If you so desire, they are very simple to dis-assemble, and are easy to sharpen - which I suggest, as they usually won't shave or cut phonebook paper as they come.

Before offing mine for sale, I sharpen to a razor edge, mirror polish the secondary bevel, and tune the blade deployment. Result is a nice, easily deployed, VERY sharp knife - which has really good edge retention.. In some previous posts I've shown photos of some of these before sharpening and polishing.

I have found these to be the best value available in folding knife kits, and are easy yo build into a knife that , around here in NE Mississippi, can easily sell for $150.00.

Hey Tom - I ordered a few folder kits from Premium Knife Supply on your recommendation. I got a couple Rapture Folders and a Lockback Folder. Will be my first knives - I called them with a few questions and the guy that I talked to was super helpful. I'm curious - do you glue/epoxy your scales on for these folder kits, or just use the screws? The guy that I talked to recommended getting the scales shaped and then attach with screws that are provided. Thanks for the recommendation - I'll keep you posted on how they turn out.

@wolf creek knives Wow! Thanks so much for all the details! It's going to be an adventure, but I've been wanting to do a knife for a while now. I'll let you know how it goes

I was going to PM this to you so if you still need it let me know and I'll send it to you. I'm going to get this post deleted as I intended it to be a PM.
Please don't. I found it incredibly informative, even if I'm not making (handling? scaling?) any knives at the moment.
