I am shopping for sandpaper and came across the link at the bottom of Klingspoor's web pages, Sandpaper Plus Red Hot Closeouts. Has anyone used this site? The prices are wonderful!!! Is it the same quality as the full price stuff?

Here is a product description: "A-weight Aluminum Oxide, semi-open coat, resin over glue bond with Zinc Stearate top coat. Recommended for bare wood, primer, primer surfaces and between coats of paint."

Sounds a lot like their full price stuff but the price is $7.95 for 50 sheets. That is a great price!!!

I emailed their customer service to find out if it is 1st quality. I'll update when I get the answer.

The thing I would watch out for on that would be the A weight. I usually get J weight which is fabric backed. I buy almost all my sand paper from them, but I get 1.5" wide 50' long rolls. Works great for lathe work.

Time for bed - the same sandpaper is that same price on the main Klingspoor site.[8] Thought I was finding a great bargain, compared to the aluminum stearate. G'night all.

I bought one of the 20 lb. Klingspoor bargain boxes. My experience was mixed.

The box contained only two grits, 150 and 220, which was very disappointing. When I re-read their ad I had to concede that they never promised more than two. Still, the picture and text was misleading, at least to me. OK, give them a D in marketing, from a customer's perspective.

The biggest and heaviest roll (7+ lbs.) was less than half covered with grit, leaving me with 3-1/2+ lbs of worthless cloth backing. Pretty disappointing and I decided to say something. They immediately responded and offered me a free 10 lb box of fine grits, which is what I really wanted anyway. I accepted and I had the second box within a week. It was perfect.

They took a little of the luster off of their response when they reminded me, again, that they hadn't promised me any specific grits. Well, I knew that by then, but I had expected some grit on all of the backing.

So another D for QC on their bargain boxes, which they really don't QC at all, according to them.

I will give them an A- on customer service. Would have been an A+ if they hadn't been so insistent on telling me something, for the second time, which had nothing to do with the "missing grit" problem.

They have good products and good customer service and I'll try them again but I'll be more careful next time. Maybe they will be, too.

Reports from friends on their box close-outs give mixed results. Often they will end up with a bunch of grits they can't use and try to give them away to other friends. I don't buy mixed boxes and only order exactly what I need. I believe that, in the long run, this is the more economical approach. But, I do like their Gold series of sandpapers.
