I have been very impressed with all the beautiful kitless pens that numerous posters have shared, I hope to soon be able to experiment in that realm myself. I am very interested in the pens I have seen machined from metal. I was curious if anyone had machined a pen from steel or another suitable metal alloy and then electroplated it with gold, silver, copper, etc. ?

yes Damascus Steel and Brass or Solid Copper. Not electro plated though.

I made some parts from brass years ago, then had them Rhodium plated. But that came to an abrupt halt when the plating company went out of business. I have not invested in home plating either. I did find another plating company in Rhode Island, but have not gone forward with them as yet. There's a thread with photos here somewhere. I'll have to dig it up later. Lunch with my daughter right now.
