I was give two blanks by a friend that was called King Wood. I have looked for it at Arizonz Silhouettes and did not find it. Has anyone heard of it and does it have another name. Turns very easy with very distinct blank and burgundy lines.

It's another Rosewood, like Cocobolo, African Blackwood, Rosewood, etc. BigRob carries some in his inventory, I think. It's a very pretty wood, somewhat lighter in color (generally) than Cocobolo. If you search the photo gallery, you should find several Kingwood pens.

So where's the pic of YOUR pen??!?!!?! [:D]
 
I found a block at Rocklers that I cut into a bottle stopper and 2 eggscopes around Christmas and it came out beautiful. Nice color and turned like butter.
 
It is a beautiful wood and turns very nice, I bought some blocks from Darek awhile back that I was very happy with.[:D]

A kingwood Baron turned from one of these blocks can be viewed in my album
 
It comes from Brazil IIRC.

It's called Kingwood because the French nobility desired it so much for accents in furniture. The tree does not grow very big (a few inches in diameter) so it is more suited for accent pieces than a whole piece of furniture.

An orangish tint is characteristic of cocobolo, Kingwood will usually look purpley (new word).

Distinctly different SMELL, cocobolo is a little "smoky", kingwood more sweet.

Sounds like you may have gotten some "mislabelled" wood, Michael.[:0][:0]

Both of them cost about the same, lately so it is not a big deal.
