My much better half got me a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas and I love it!! Of course, I'm still learning to use it, but so far it's really cool! I read a lot when I'm away at work and it is much easier to read than I thought it would be.
I downloaded James Patterson's ' Merry Christmas Alex Cross' (very good btw!)
Being able to flick between reading a book and surfing the web with just two taps on the screen is great too!
The touch screen is VERY sensitive for my big sausages but the predict text is helpful.
It has taken me nearly ten minutes to write this though! LOL.
Oh, I can't get the forum smilies to work on it yet either.

Merry Christmas everyone! :)

My mom got one this year.... Made her a stylus and hooked up a wireless network for her... Now I have to figure out how to lend books.

I got an e-ink kindle a couple years ago when we were traveling across the pond so I could bring a few books with me without the weight/hassel of "real" books. I find a read so much more because it is so easy to cary books around. I love my e-ink screen, but I'm envious of your color screen for web browsing.

I also got one for Christmas and I just love it. I'm deployed right now but when i get home it is stylus time. Enjoy and Happy New Year.

PM me your address and I will make and send you a stylus.

I got mine last Christmas, and love it. It goes with me everywhere. Go on to the amazon book store and download the free book

200 Best Kindle Fire Apps

It has reviews of some of the best apps available out there and it is free.

One of the first apps to download should be the maxthon browser. It is a thousand percent better than the one that comes with the fire.

When I bought it in Feb. it was free, but it may be $2.99 now. It is worth it. I got some really good utility apps as a result of the book.

I switched over to a Kindle about 18 months ago and absolutoely love it. Like many other here, I wasn't sure how I'd like reading from a screen, but I find it much easier than from paper. For some reason, I also seem to read quite a bit faster. I ended up reading 63 books the first year which was about 50% more than usual. I'm looking at my daughter's Kindle Fire now to see if I "need" to upgrade to the Fire or not, but I love my Kindle.

One of the things I like about the fire is the ability to switch it from black letters on a white background to white letters on a black background. I like to read in bed at night when my husband is asleep, and the black background is easier on the eyes in a dark room. Plus it makes the battery last longer.
