I kinda like this. Very simple--same piece of wood.
Chestnut Oak---slimline kit
Cut the blank to long--- by a 1/4 of a inch.
Cut the blank into three pieces.
Flip the center one sideways.
Glue it back together.
Drill and size for your tubes and your ready.
I cut a little off each end to keep the balance.
Watch that center piece when your turning ---you are turning through the end grain---it will be harder than the straight grain.
