Has anyone been watching the Food Network Rachael and Guy Kids Cook-off???

These kids between 10 and 12 are cooking (pun intended) up some excellent dishes and impressed the tasting judges. The judges did not know that kids had cooked the food they tasted.

It was priceless when the curtain was opened and the kids came out. The judges were dumb-struck and dumb-founded when they found out the kids had planned, designed, and cooked the dishes!

My wife was watching the master chef kids edition last night and I sat down to watch the last bit when they were tasting and judging. It was amazing how mature (and talented) most of the kids were. The judges found something positive to say even for the few that had flops. The eliminations at the end were a little tough to watch when some of the kids broke down in tears.

My big achievements as a kid were spaghetti with jar sauce and burgers.

Who is still wondering why chocolate needs to be tempered and what the heck that means.....

SWMBO and I watch a lot of those shows, and the Rachel/Guy show was one of them... I was bored by the end of the first show, unfortunately. It was cute, but I couldn't take much more than that one show. We've really gotten into the UK versions of the same shows... less American drama, concentrates more on the cooking itself.

I have to say, though... that one know-it-all kid (curly hair, if I remember correctly) would have gotten a severe beat-down every day at my school. He's entirely too snarky, and I'm not sure if he even realizes it.
