This is a 1950's era Craftsman (Parks model 95) 12" x 4" planer. Original stand and original repulsion induction motor that runs like a top. She needs to be cleaned and repainted, but I can handle that!

They don't build tools like this anymore. It was so heavy that when I placed it on the tail-end of my 12' trailer to back into the shop and hoist it off the trailer, it lifted my Jeep 12" higher than normal in the rear end!

Funny thing, if you look at the Parks badged one, and then mine... The original four holes in the casting for the Parks badge is still on the planer! LOL

These were very nice planers and still much wanted today. I can't wait to refurb this one. I have a few machines ahead of it including that 17" VS Rockwell monster drill press I brought home this spring.

I'm interested in seeing an after shot also, but right now I can't see a before shot. Lee you seem to find some good deals on good tools. What do you do with them after the restore?

I mostly buy them for my shop, but everynow and then I buy one just to refurb. I fell into this one pretty much for free, although I am refurbing some parts for the guy that found it with some tools he bought. Kinda a barter on top of moving all his tools too.

Right now I have four that need to be finished. I have that big 17" Rockwell drill, this planer, my big 16" bandsaw and a small wood lathe that will be re-sold and is done except for the lathe bed needs paint.

PS, looks like my server crashed... check back later and it should be up and running soon.

I know my photos are down. Either my server at UNH is down, or my club lost access to thier server. If that is the case it will seriously stink as my site has been up pushing 10 years!! That will take a LONG time to fix and move!

NH did just have a tornado touch down so it may be the cause, but it is not exactly close to where it happened.

You just wanted to tease us with a description and no pictures. can't wait to see this project. by the way thanks again for the tool rest, It works great. Got it on the lathe in front of a closed end PVC blank right now. Hope to go totally kitless with this one.

Ok guys, I have them back up! My server is free thru my off-roading club (The Yankee Toys) and they moved the main server and made the old server point any links to the new server. The problem is that the new server needs something on there to show once it has been pointed!! The problem is that it re-directs all the personal pages and links!!

If anyone wants to save this link, changing the "www.yankeetoys.org" to "http://ct-web2.unh.edu/lee" will make any web page or photo work. Our web guy is trying to fix this now and fixing my site will take so very long to recode! Worst case I can do it, but with all hope it will be back to normal. For now I changes the photos and will edit my main page so that it does not look "down".

Awesome Phil, did the height work out??? How does the bolt on top work? It seemed like the tool rest would slip the banjo before it would slip at the post. Please get back to me and let me know how it works out. I may remake mine just like it.
