I'm down here in New Orleans working on houses and Katrina cleanup and had a thought. I pulled out a rather large termite nest from the walls of the house I worked on yesterday and was thinking maybe someone could make a pen blank out of the nest just like the cactus blanks that facinate us all. But then I thought, one, "it's probably made of mud that would fall apart" and two, "who would want a termite nest pen?". At least it made the job a little more interesting.

I've actually seen a bowl made out of one (not sure if it was posted at Woodnet or SMC). It was cored then stabilized with PR if I am not mistaken.

I can’t remember who but I think it is King from Peru that has made bowls out of what they call termite nest. He posts on sawmill creek, he does some very interesting work.
