Has anyone else had a problem with PSI lately? I placed an order on last Wednesday and I understand the holiday. But I have sent them 2 different emails and they never respond. I had this problem a couple months ago as well. I emailed them and never did hear a response back. Also, they seem to be slower than any other vendor that I have found for shipping orders. Sorry, I just had to rant alittle bit as I am trying to get stuff done for Christmas.

I have had the same problem with them on more than one occasion, so I finally gave up and started using any other vendor that has what I'm looking for.

Well I told myself that last time as well but for some reason I tried them again for the benefit of the doubt, guess I was wrong.
 
I have had several problems with them lately. Received an order today with 3 Gatsby pen kits missing, at the bottom of the invoice was a small note saying the item was on back order. They however had charged me for the kits. An email would have been nice. A check of their website shows the item in stock.
 
At the beginning of this year, I made it my goal to replace PSI with other vendors due to exactly what you described. When I told the rep. this, he couldn't care less!

You would think PSI would read on this forum how unhappy their customers are and try and change, but no...
 
PSI has never been known for fast shipping and their email support is spotty at best but a phone call will almost always be responded to . You guys have to remember PSI is the biggest little company in penmaking , they process more orders per day then the next 3 biggest competitors combined and they do this with a staff of 4 people in the shipping department (last that I heard) . If you want fast shipping then buy from the vendors here on the IAP (WHICH YOU SHOULD BE DOING ALREADY!) they give fast shipping and more importantly they support the IAP .
If you need stuff that our vendors don't have then build extra time into your plans and expect the orders to take a week to 10 days or more . I live only about 100 miles from PSI but I get my orders faster from woodnwhimsies in Florida or even woodpenpro in Hawaii but since I need to order from PSI or CSUSA on occasion I always build the extra time into my plans so I'm not stuck waiting .
 
I am actually seeing myself soon to be an ex-customer of PSI. I purchased 6 "Classic's" 4 in satin chrome and 2 in gold. I have yet to do the brushed chrome. I Had to call them to get the gold one replaced because the center Band seemed to big as it normally got seated via the center ring. Alas it now seem that one has to turn down the upper blank about 1/32 under to allow the band to seat... If I wanted a designer pen I would have ordered it.:mad:

They did replace the two, however but it took from early Friday afternoon to Friday the following week, And I live in Michigan... WTH. Don't they know about Priority Mail?
 
Dealing with PSI

I never buy from PSI via their website unless I don't need the item for awhile. I use the phone and always get excellent service.
 
My last order took three days to ship and arrived two days later. The only time I had a problem, I called them and got a replacement in two days. I think it depends on how busy they are, but the phone always works.

I've had longer ship times from vendors right here on the IAP. I've even had to call and remind them about my order. PSI has never needed a reminder.

I recently had an order that included some Majestics. The upper tube on one of them was out of round because it had been slightly crushed during shipping. The e-mail I sent them went unanswered for five days. I called them and had a replacement tube, free of charge, in my hand two days later (Priority Mail sent to Maine.)

I've never had a problem with them in the past, but I must admit, not getting a response to the e-mail does sour me a little. I won't be jumping ship from them quite yet. YMMV

Let's see................. You submitted the order online right.... the day before Thanksgiving.... knowing or should have known that most of the folks would be off enjoying the holiday with their families, not returning to work untill possibly monday morning.

I wonder how many thousands of emails they receive from turners ordering last week then wanting status on their orders........over the holiday weekend!

and I understand the holiday. REALLY! :eek:

Sorry I can't contribute to this little dog pile because I have never had bad luck or poor timing with orders placed with them.
 
I have never had an email to PSI returned. However, when ever I use the phone, I get excellent service, usually by the second day, priority mail. Yes, they do run out of some things on occassion. so does everyone else. Most of my purchases do now go to our IAP vendors. but sometimes PSI has tha product that no one else has or it is too hard to locate, so it is PSI again. YMMV

I purchased an order of stuff last Monday received it the following Monday. My biggest gripe is the 2 Black Titanium Sketch Pen and Pencil Combos the plating was messed up on both. Called them Tuesday they are sending me for one kit the clip and pencil assembly and the clip for the 2nd. So I can't complain to much.
 
At the risk of getting flamed... I don't know what the deal is with sniping at PSI..:confused:. It takes a day or two to process an order and I'm sure PSI gets many orders on any given day.

I placed an order with them on Thanksgiving eve night 11/24 - I received an automatic notice of receipt of the order that same night.... on 11/29 I received a notification that the order has been shipped... should be here tomorrow. :biggrin:
They have an 800 number .. if you don't get response to eMail. call them.
 
The only thing I buy from PSI anymore are wooden display boxes. First, the black ones with glass were on backorder for a month and the rosewood ones with glass have been in back order since October.

It's not that I don't want to business with them, my customers just simply will not give me 2 months to deliver.

Well you could contact your credit card company - technically they could be violating their merchant agreement. I know for us it is against our credit card merchant agreement at our primary business to charge someone for an item that is on back order (i.e. before that item is shipped to the customer) and any one doing this with that type of agreement could be at risk of loosing their ability to accept credit cards through their merchant services.

I will say however - we are not saying that we personally have had trouble with PSI personally. This is only meant to address the above statement nothing more!

Oh, so what's the advise for someone just wanting to start ordering form them? Or, is there any other alternative?

There are some PSI reseller that will give you better service and even better price than buying direct.

Wood n Wimshies, Wood turningz are among the two that i deal with and they give a great service and cheaper price.

There are others but i use only those two.

If I need something in a hurry I phone it in and generally tell the person I'm talking to that I need it fast (rarely happens). I usually get fast service when I need it.

Some online suppliers ship very quickly, CSUSA seems to and many of the small guys -- myself included-- go out of our way to ship fast. We have to, We build our business on returning customers and we'll do what we need to to get them back, that includes a no-nonsense/ no excuses fast shipping policy. If you don't have your item in a couple of days it will be due to the shipping service dropping the ball.

Try Wood-N-Whimpsies.com. They carry most of PSI pens. I have had no problems with them.

Ever since the advent of Priority mail, seems like everyone wants things on their doorstep in one or two days regardless of the day of the week an order is placed. The way I see it, if one is REALLY in a hurry, there is always "Next day Air" or "Next day priority delivery".... for a price! But for some reason, you seldom readin these rants that the person is in THAT big of a hurry!

In a week or so, we'll start reading where folks are getting upset because their orders aren't being shipped fast enough to insure they can make their pens then get them shipped in time to arrive by Christmas. Does no one understand that this IS the busiest AND slowest shipping time of the year?:biggrin:

The irony is that first class is just as fast if you have weight under 13 ounces..... A lot of money is waisted shipping light objects priority mail.
 
I have just become another PSI former customer. My recent experience: I ordered two Classic Elite fountain pens, the first fountain pens I have made. Customer loved the look, and they did turn out nice. However, they would barely write. Did some research, tried some tweaking of the nibs, finally contacted PSI. They totally blew me off with "the preferred method is the refillable pump, not the cartridge." Funny that the cartridge is what the kit comes with. (sarcasm intended) They then decided to ignore three follow up emails. In the meantime I took a chance and ordered a couple of nibs from Meisternibs. They fit the kits exactly and worked flawlessly.

I am so disgusted with PSI's lack of response and poor customer service that I am going to likely box up my collection of bushings and start fresh with Woodturningz. I ordered a few things from them and had an email when I got home that day...shipped the SAME DAY.

PSI probably doesn't give a flying you-know-what, but I am done with them.
