Turned this for my wife today. Its a Jr gent II the wood had written on it burl ? so not sure what type of wood.

Thanks Sataro. I don't know what type of wood it is but it is pretty. I think that I got it in a box of blanks that I won in a contest here...

Just a guess, but redwood burl might be one possibility
