Jet Wet Sharpener-Diamond Truing Tool ?

I recently purchased the Jet Wet Sharpener and need some help with the Jet Diamond Truing Tool #708018.

It appears that the actual diamond is encased in a metallic holder that is exposing only a portion of the actual diamond.

If so - is this tool designed to advance the exposed tip of the diamond with the "Lock Screw" when the exposed diamond tip is worn down to the level of its metal casing ?

Looking at mine I would say once the diamond tip is flush with the tool body you will need to get a replacement tip. You should get a lot of use from the existing tip before replacement is ever needed.
