Just pondering something. Does anyone know if it the jet midi lathe is capable of spinning the head stock around 180 degrees and be able to realign back up with little difficulty. Getting tired of reaching around and changing the belt speed by feel.I want to be able to have the flap door in front to have better control of the belt.

If it will turn, like my Jet 1442, it will likely have a locking lever on the headstock to the left of the housing, and there will be a locking lever on the front that is a screw out then a pull to release the locking pin under the swivel.... I can swing the 1442 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 degrees and on around to 360.... it was designed to do out board turning, which I have found I don't do as at 90 degrees the torque vibrates the machine too much if the piece is out of balance... a balanced piece turns okay.

Just took another look, and I have the mini lathe. So what I'm wanting to do is unbolt the head stock and flip it 180 so the access to the belt is in front. But not wanting to go through realignment if it won't work.

I know that it would be facing the wrong manner, thats why i would dismantal the shaft and swap the bearings. But i just tried and found that the front and back bearings are different O.D. sizes so the casing will not work 180 degrees around.
