Hello,

I've ben turning for a couple years now and just bought a new jet lathe and was wondering what would be the best chuck to get with it? I been looking at the supernova or barracuda. Should I buy one of these or a different one?

Thanks,
Jerry

All Nova jaws are interchangeable. As you upgrade to larger lathes you can use your jaws and chucks . I believe the barracuda chuck only goes up to 1" 8 thread size.

Tim.

No matter where you go, there you are.

PSI sells and adaptor I use on my Baracuda between my 1014 and 1642...picked it up on Amazon for about 12-15 bucks. The Baracuda comes with 4 sets of jaws.

I have a Barracuda and am very happy with it. It comes with everything you need - 4 jaws, worm screw and is one hand operation. The carry case keeps it all together. I bought it because people on here recommended it and it included everything so I didn't need to figure out what I needed to buy. It's also one hand operation.

The Jet 1014 is a great little lathe but you don't need a full size chuck, I feel that they are to heavy for that lathe. My first choice would be the Nova Midi, it will handle anything that you can turn on the 1014. I used one for years on a 1014 and was very happy with it.
