Folks,

This was posted in another thread by me while talking about Russ Fairfield and his old site. While researching old sites I found a snapshot of his site from 2006 still on the web at the Internet Archive.

People always tell you that if you put something on the internet, it could be out there forever and never actually get deleted, so be careful what you say. There are firms and organizations that go out and take snapshots of sites on a daily basis for historical reasons.

The Internet Archive is working to prevent the Internet - a new medium with major historical significance - and other "born-digital" materials from disappearing into the past. Its purposes include offering permanent access for researchers, historians, scholars, people with disabilities, and the general public to historical collections that exist in digital format.

Showing what they collect, would anyone like to see what is on their site as the earliest view of the IAP site? This is a snapshot of IAP from July 6, 2004

Let me be the first to say it - thats very interesting....

Different people will pick up and notice different things from that page. Me - What did I notice? That the page happened to be saved off at the point when there was 392 members and Eagle was one of the 4 newest.

I wonder if the Klingspor Discount is still valid?

Cool. I use the way back machine quite often. Good ideas get put on sites and then let go by the posters. The way back machine has saved me more than once.
