I've finished my orientation today and got to work in the tool department for about an hour. I learn how and got to wrap plastic bands around the boxes power tools and I did a little bit of stocking. Oh and the most important part of my job helping customers. It's so great to be working again. I going to love working at Lowe's. On I can give discounts to anyone not even my IAP family. Thanks again for all the prayers that I know played a major part in getting this job.

:eek:Dan, you can not be in the tool dept. Get out now for your own sanity. Go work in the carpet dept. or garden dept. it will be safer. No pressure to buy things. Stay away from the Lumber dept too. :smile-big: Good luck. I do mean it. Just having fun.

Thanks for all the comment's. It will be a year ago today that I was put out of work do to the problem with my foot so it meant even more.

Dan, it's great they placed you in the tool dept instead of seasonal as your chances of being hired full time after 89 days is 100% better than in seasonal or outside lawn and garden.

Dan,
Congrats on the new job.. I worked in the tool/hardware dept of my local Lowe's for a while... I only wanted part time and enjoyed meeting and helping customers. It was hard working around all those new tools though... have fun and enjoy.

I bet they'll be calling you The Natural before long because of your vast wood and tool knowledge. I LOVE running into guys like you at Lowes!

Thanks Kelly, I think this will really be a job I like. I did enjoy my job at food lion until they cut hours and added more to the job.

:biggrin:Glad to hear you are happy in your job. This is all that matters. With discounts and access to tools and materials, now Evelyn can give you honey-do lists all day long!:eek:

Great news....I'd be like a kid in a candy factory though. So fun to work at a job that you like though....turns the "work" into "fun".

Congratulations!

Thanks everyone, I do think it will be fun, Rich we do carry a lot of pen making supplies. Drills, bits, sandpaper, CA and epoxy, tap and die sets, aluminum bar stock almost and endless list all under one roof with friendly folk to help you.

Have you found out if any of your "Lowes" family are pen turners?

Congratulations Dan! You will be a good fit. Remember, you can't take all the tools home with you though. besides, how many times can you tell Evelyn "It followed me home honey. Can we keep it?"

Mike, there is another pen turner at the store, the HR person told him about my pen and from what she said he was surprised to hear it. I don't think he know about IAP or our club. When I meet him I tell him.
