OUCH!!!

Had the same thing happen to me 15 years ago but i was on a motorcycle. 5 fake teeth, some nasty road rash in several spots and 15 stitches in my chin.

So... i have literally been there.

think you went a little further lol ;)

chipped a piece off my tooth but no pain luckily. will go see the dentist about it soon. just a tight face and a banging headache! which reminds me... wheres my whisky

Bummer. Being an avid cyclist, I feel your pain. I attacked the pavement with my face once and ended up much worse than you. I chipped a tooth as well. That is a bummer, hope it doesn't affect your pen turning! Get well soon

I hope the dumbas_ driver stopped and checked on you at least.

It is accidents like this that caused me to always carry my Beretta when on one of my bikes. Carrying a big black shoulder holster seems to make others PAY ATTENTION TO BIKERS AND MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS. BTW, carrying an UZI slung across the chest really makes the cops look ten, fifteen times at you as well. I mean like really, really hard looks too.

Hope you were not more seriously hurt than the picture shows and that you heal rapidly.

I'm sure there's a lawyer out there just drooling over how many new wood working tools he can get for you  Wait...change that to a new mill...and a proper office to do your chemical treatments in for the pens.

Hope you're okay!!??

Ouch, I own several patches of Road Rash, one on the head, but nothing has marred my beautiful countenance :eek::beat-up:
It amazes me why large men on Bicycles OR Motorcycles can not be seen, Normally when they are seen and their road rights given them, it's by an auto or truck driver that has ridden a Cycle of some sort.

I hope you heal quickly.

Brad, I'm glad you survived! It certainly doesn't seem to have hurt your sense of humor. Get well soon.

many thanks for the comments all! i would have quoted all the replies but that would of been alot of quotes so you got a like each lol

yes got off lightly though will be taking a break from snowboarding for a couple of weeks to heal up well as i have my holidays next month. think i may have broken a bone in my hand judging by the odd swelling on the back of it by my little finger.... but doesnt particularly hurt unless you squeeze it so il leave it alone!

ho hum, many thanks for all the wishes.

Get the hand checked out- hands are complicated and can cause many problems later. The driver's insurance should pay for it.

luckily health care doesnt cost anything in the UK. may pop up there tomorrow if its not showing signs of settling

Brad,
Glad you weren't hurt more seriously... cars and bikes don't always mix well... my daughter in Calif is an avid bike rider... she has done a lot of the races and iron man marathons... but a few years back she was clipped by a car and knocked off her bike into a ditch and cracked 3 vertebrae in her lower back... eventually had to have surgery to fuse them and pretty much ended her marathons... she can't do the swim turns now... still rides though.

Get well quickly.

Brings back a terrible memory for me. You're pretty well skinned up there pal. Glad nothing is broken. You might consider some flashing lights for that bike.

Road rash sucks! I feel for ya. Shaving is gonna blow. My doc told me to go a few days without shaving then pull the whiskers out with tweezers. It will help it heal a bit faster and lessen the chance of infection. It hurt but I think maybe he was right.

I hope you heal soon. I know how you feel as we rode Honda Goldwing Motorcycles for many years and had 3 accidents. Yeh, I have several patches of road rash bald spots, but we always wore helmets and the head escaped injury. My wife got the worst in our last accident, she had a compound fracture of the left lower leg. Not good. 4 surgeries and the ankle now has been fused because of the damage. 2 wheels, powered or not, are fun and I hope you heal quick and get back to riding.

Unfortunately, as all cyclists (and Kermit the frog) know, "It's not easy being *seen*".

I'm glad it wasn't worse. Hopefully some aloe/vitamin E will get you back on the road soon (I think I'll look for some brighter colors before going out for today's ride).

Take care.

yes im thankful its not a real injury. more than an inconvenience more than anything else! it has 6 weeks to dissapear before i go snowboarding down mountains so plenty of time.

It never gets easier I remember my last one, into the emergency room for another 12 stitches. As we were walking out my wife was chastising me saying "you are old enough for this not to happen to you!" a nurse was standing there and looked at me and looked at my wife and said " you have to get use to these things when you are married to an Athlete." I could have kissed him. 63 years old and that was the first time I had ever been called an Athlete!

I hope your Road Rash heals as well as it can, I would go and have the DR. take a look at it, Chicks dig scars but not on your face, some of the new bandaging is amazing.

Heal fast Brad! One of the reasons I no longer ride a street bike, folks in cars just dont pay any attention to bikes! Heck they don't seem to see 4 tons of truck coming at them most of the time!

Glad you're Ok and it wasn't worst. I got hit on my motorcycle by a guy going in the opposite direction, who made a left turn in front of me. He said he never saw me. I believe it because over 60% of motorcycle accidents happen just that way. Bicycles are smaller so I'm sure the brain gets fooled even easier.

Please watch that headache...call the doc back if it's not gone yet, or has gotten worst...could be a sign of a concussion.

many thanks all,

Timbo, yes its a dose of concussion.. can tell that from the tiredness and the nausea but i know what im looking for should it get any worse. banged my noggin quite a few times in the past and have grown quite acustom to looking after myself. If the other serious signs begin to show then off to the docs il go... although with it being this time after now just a bit of rest and a chilled atmosphere will work wonders ;) .. oh and the bus... il give the bike a rest for a week
