Success !!!!
The type II On/Off switch works on my type I Lathe.
I had to remove and modify the Paddle on the Type I to fit onto the Type II but it does the job.

Now I'm thinking I am going to install a standard 20A light switch with an on/off light and hopefully never have to replace the Delta switch again.

I put a "kill switch" paddle type switch on my lathe. It is just where my knee is when I am turning. I got it at Rockler. with magnets on the back so it can be stuck anywhere on the front of my lathe. Some lathes have a bar running across the front. Pressing on it will stop the lathe.

The Delta On/Off switch is rated 20A 125V and this kill switch is only 15A 115V. From the original posting here the switch amperage should match the system.
