I read the post "joy. no that's her name". It got me thinking how much of my children's (daughther 24, son 18 and son 15) lives I missed being in the Navy. I don't regret serving, I did 20 yrs. It was just that I missed a lot of milestones. They were talking or walking by the time I got home from deployment depending on what stage they were at when I left. They had birthdays and started new grades in school. Or the first day of school in elementary (first son) middle to high school (daughter). I was on shore duty for most of my younger son's first. I think I am done now.. I just wanted to reflect for a minute.. I also want to say: Happy Veterans Day..
