Yesterday was my 1st day off work since Mid-February :bulgy-eyes:(it happens every year - I do taxes). I'm relatively new to turning but haven't been able to turn anything since sometime in January. Since I wasn't able to turn I bought stuff:smile-big:.

I'm not sure how many kits I've picked up in the last couple of months - at least 30, but probably closer to 60:good:. I'm not sure how many blanks I've received - at least 40, but probably closer to 80:good::good:. It's all in little piles scattered around our house - at my desk in the basement, on my dresser, on the lathe, on my workbench . . . I still have one more order that I think I "need" to place.

My wife and I have a friend that is a psychologist (haven't seen her in 5 years since she moved to Alaska). We used to sit around and talk about life and every now and then she would chime in with "there's a name for that!" referring to a psychology term that describes some silly habit that one of use has.

Wondering if she would say - there's a name for that!:

(I do trust her judgment - after all she does some turning herself!)

My first task is for my daughter and I to turn 10 pens for ServicePens.

Is working non stop from Mid February to the 17th of April Normal? probably not. Now stocking up on supplies thats perfectly normal except your a light weight. If you want to be taken seriously you will have to really step up your game and order more stuff. Much much more stuff.

sounds about right, but like was said, you need to get in on some group buys and some preorder sales to really build up. I have bought about 100 kits this year and turned 3 and dont even get me started on the 100's of blanks all over the house, shop and garage.

Yes, there is a name for that - vortexisosious - The uncontrollable urge/need to stock up of blanks, part, kits and tools.

I am a retired Internal Revenue Agent. Being a tax pro on either side of the table is not normal. Buying pen making supplies is the cure! I hope you had a good tax season and now you need to spend some time with the family and turn some pens!!!! :-)
