Nothing is for sale. Just had a question. I have a bunch of plain jane pen blanks like maple, walnut, teak, hickory and others that I may not use ever. At least 100+ peices. I can't see them just sitting around collecting dust. If there is enough intrest I will setup a quick store and list them.

This is an interesting dilemma, isn't it Steve? I bet it would be safe to say that 90% of penturners have blanks laying around that keep getting pushed to the side. Which brings us to the real issue ..... what are some creative uses for those boring looking blanks that we don't think are worth turning into a pen? I apologize for hijacking your thread. But, I wonder if there is something really cool that you and I and tons of other IAP members can do with them. Seems to me I remember seeing a WD article on gluing pen blanks up into a bowl.
To answer your question, I'd say go ahead and post some photos in the classifieds.

For the icicles,I used pen blanks.

I had about 500 pecan pen blanks that I tried to trade or even sometimes give away. Too hard to use icicles so I ended up using most of them in my smoker. Not exactly the best answer but it was about all I could do with it. [;)]

My Christmas newbie offer went over very well. Maybe you could offer them for just the shipping, or a cheap offer for the newbies. It helps take the edge off learning if you can work with a cheap blank. Those catches and breakage don't sting so badly that way.[;)]
But I also agree, this might be a good time for you to play with laminations.

You have no idea how much great wood I stuff in my wood stove. I just have sooo much of it and can get it sooo easily. I tend to use the more exciting pieces in my pens[;)]

I am starting to make segmented birdhouse ornaments with mine. I'm just starting with it and have about 50 more blanks that I never expect to use on a pen. If they do well, I may need to find cheap boring blanks from the rest of you.

Well, I may not do any segmented pens. I'm not a fan of the look. But, segmented bowls have been an intrest and I do want to try that.

I been making mine into cheaper slimlines and using those dye markers that were talked about here a while back ! Anyway on plain maple it looks great some real weird efects and they been selling for me anyway ! I sell them 20 bucks each or 2 for $35.00 !! you might give that a try ! It works for me to use up wood that is plain jane and lots a folks likem :O)[:D]

Below is a couple a my what I call economy pens :O) maple and other woods I would not use made into sellable pens ...

Pipes, really like those dye-colored pens as a set. Too bad we can't get ink in all those colors, or colored lead for mechanical pencils. I could do that we some of this @#$&* pecan I have also. Hmmm . . .

This hurts my heart. I love pecan and use it often with mesquite and Texas ebony for my Texas themed pens. Next time you have too many let me know.

I use my plain jane blanks to make inside-out ornaments. Using two each from contrasting woods. And like Ron, I often use plain looking blanks for the icicles.[;)]

I'm new here, and for myself, I would love to have extra blanks to practice on. If anyone would like to get rid of them, I will be glad to pay the shipping.

I forget the name of the pens there is a guy on E Bay that I got mine from that sells a set of like 40 or 50 colors ! I would not want to have just a few colors because I have found it does not take every color the same !! so having a LOT a diffrent shades you can goof around until you get one the wood a take ! Maybe someone here remembers the name of the things there out in my shop and its COLD here so it have to wait until I get out there to give you a name ! They work much much better than a sharpie I tried those with not near the results ! IMO.... Thanks for the kind words !! It really is a Great way to do up dead wood and make a few bucks to boot ! :O)[:D]

My church has a summer get-together, and I thought about taking my lathe and a bunch of so-so blanks and letting some of the kids have a go at it. They would have a blast and wouldn't care if the blanks were boring.[:)]
