why I ask is because....I made a pen a few months ago for a lady, and now she says she does not like it because of the color change. she said that she like it when it was lighter.

so do you know of anyway to prevent it from darkening? my guess as to why it darkens is due to exposure to the air?

If I were to seal it with a Ca finnish do you think that this would help it stay the same color?

Thanks

Every wood will change color. I thinks is exposure to air as well as to UV light.
Maybe an outdoor polyurethane finish might slow it down, but I'm only guessing.

I have two beautiful Coco pens that have NOT changed color at all. The CA does protect the finish from the air and oil/acid from our hands. You annot expect wood to keep it's natural color without any covering at all.
