Has anyone tried any of the apps out there for IPhones or Droids that help keep track of your pen kits and blanks inventory? Or what other ideas have you guys come up with. I hate talking to someone about making a pen, and I can't remember if I have to order a kit or not half the time. I think they call that getting old.
Thanks,
Jay

WRITE THE APP! I'll gladly pay the UPGRADE app price of 99 cents! AND, YOU know what we need!

There are 12,000 members here, now. THAT's $12,000! I'D write it, but it takes away from shop time.

Tongue firmly planted in cheek:biggrin:

On a serious note, the apps that I know that are currently available are more time intensive than the worth of doing the inventory.

and APP that we could do by "camera phone" and say "yeah, I've got that in house, I can deliver, tomorrow WOULD BE PRICELESS!

Funny, I do have a good friend that writes Apps. I want to see if there is anything out there presently that is any good. Never thought about asking him. Could be a possibility.

There is a fortune to be made here! You might have to do a few polls here and there, etc, BUT Apple's SDK is (or was) free! Write an app that 12,000 people buy and APPLE will beat a path to YOUR DOOR.

Pen makers want to make and sell pens....THEY DON'T WANT TO BE ACCOUNTANTS OR INVENTORY ANALYSISTS!

A friend of mine developed a little "APP" for a "start up company" to use on IPhone. The app is free... It's called SQUARE UP. He's doing OK, I even get a little coin doing testing:biggrin:

:eek::eek: Your friends with the square up guy?!! Guess we know where to send feature requests now! (Like discount or coupon codes to reduce total on the fly!)

NOT! I don't even use the app any more that I have to! It works GREAT! But WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for us poor chickens (2.75 and 3.5 percent! WHO can pay those discount?)

Those of us that only use a CC app for a dozen or so sales a year :) But I guess some of us aren't grown up to chicken stage yet - just us little hatchlings here

The problem with iPhone apps is apple takes 50% of the money. Now with the 12,000 members here probably 20-30% (at best) with iPhones, so that's 3,000 or so possible customers, assume only 25% are, now that's only 750 possible buyers of which you might get 50%. So, at $1 each that's a mere $375, oh yeah, apple wants half, so you'll make $162.50.

Not trying to burst anybodies bubble, just being realistic.

For the record I'd be interested.

Evernote is a pretty cool app. It is available for pc, phones (iphone and droid) and most tablets.

I keep my inventory updated on my home computer, move it to Evernote and then can access it from my phone or even my nook color.

Not perfect but I find it very handy

Sorry Andy, let me try again.

Based on the information [here] 90% of those looking on this forum are lurkers, assuming the lurkers haven't signed up you have a potential customer base of 120,000, at $1 each you'd be rich!

I sound like a politician, skewing numbers to please the audience!

Since there are no other fees related to credit card processing, the square option actually turns out cheaper for many. There is a website that compares square fees to 'normal' credit card processing that allows you to tweak the fees to match what your processor uses and allows you to input your average sales and average monthly sales to see which way would be cheaper for you. I don't have the site name handy, but you could probably turn it up easily via google, if you were so inclined.

Haven't tried it and so no idea if it would be of use, but you can get 'QuickOffice' app (I use it on my Android) and it comes with Excel spreadsheet...if anyone used a spreadsheet to track thier inventory..??

This was going to be my suggestion. I'm not sure if it's available for I phone but I have it on Droid. Haven't learned to use it yet but oh, well! You know! :) :)
