Is it worth the effort?

Just found a Sherline cnc milling machine 5000. It will need a new control board. Person is asking $500 obo. Don;t have any other details yet.
Any thoughts welcome...

At just over $800 for a brand new one with a warranty, I wouldn't.

However, if it comes with loads of accessories, it could be worth it.

I agree ---that sounds high. Most of the time I am looking for 1/2 price. Then you need to allow yourself some money for repair. To me ---$250.00 would be a lot better---
